Article 5

by Michele

I am not sure if I should be happy or not but we got one Article 5 (paperwork through the US consulate in China) on Wednesday night.  It is great because we are one step closer but I don’t know if we are suppose to be getting two Article 5.  If we are suppose to have two then that means that our girls files got separated.  Our agency tried to get in touch with the American consulate office on Thursday (their Friday) but was unable to get any information from them.

If indeed we only need one Article 5, then we are only waiting for the CCCWA (China’s gov. branch that is in charge of all adoptions) to review our files to make sure all paperwork is in order and then we will get our TA (travel approval).  Our agency told us that the average of their last 5 families was a 16.5 day wait for TA.  After we get our TA we will be able to set up our consulate appointment and then fly to get our girls.

If we need two Article 5s, then we might be in trouble because our paperwork has been separated.  Hopefully everything will get back in order and our files can be processed at the same time again.  We won’t know anything until later next week because of the holiday weekend.

Oh my goodness! How confusing! I hope you only needed one. Joel and I will keep praying for you guys. Once you get travel approval how long until you go?

    • We are hoping to travel at the end of June first of July. We will see if we get all of our paperwork in time for that hope. I am a little sad because I originally wanted to be traveling right now but our LOA took so long.
