Today we took Quinn and Jenna in for their first doctor’s appointment in Mankato.  For the most part this visit was uneventful and the girls had fun climbing on everything in sight and trying to destroy everything that wasn’t bolted down.  At least, they had lots of fun until the shots – that wasn’t so much fun.

While we had the girls, the boys went off with the Fritz’s (Bella and Elliot’s grandparents who live just a few houses down).  The boys were both excited for today, because they love playing in Gerry’s and Joe’s basement with Bella and Elliot.  What they didn’t know is that Gerry had planned a very special lunch for them at McDonald’s.  They had the whole clan there – Bella, Elliot and their parents Matt and Michel along with their grandparent’s Gerry and Joe.  Ryan was so excited throughout the whole meal that he talked and talked and talked to whoever would listen.  He was so busy talking that he didn’t have anytime to eat.  Eventually, Bella worked out a plan.  She ripped off a small piece of Ryan’s cheeseburger and set it before him.  As soon as Ryan saw it, he would stuff it in his mouth unaware that he was eating.  Bella continued this, just putting out 1 piece at a time.  Pretty soon, his mouth was stuffed but he kept right on talking.  At one point  during his very animated dialog, his finger caught a piece from his mouth and it went flying across the table by everyone’s head.

On a different note, I’m doing much, much better.  The joint pain has definitely decreased over the last two days.  It’s not gone completely yet, but this is huge step in the right direction.  The Infectious Disease Specialist in Mankato thinks I have a viral infection.  He couldn’t say exactly what it is but suspects it is something similar to Fifth’s Disease (http://www.cdc.gov/parvovirusb19/fifth-disease.html).   Probably a similar virus in the same class.  This virus can have very wide and varied symptoms that are different from patient to patient.  In fact, he suspects Michele has the same thing, even though she only has cold like symptoms.  He also suspects that we originally got it from the girls.  Quinn had a fever on the plane ride home.  This got passed to Jenna and Luke.  Their fevers only lasted for 10 to 12 hours, but it could all be the same virus being passed between us.

About tochinaandbackagain

I am a stay at home mom to two very active boys and soon we will bring home two Chinese twin girls with cleft lip and palate issues. I spend my day trying to be the best parent and wife I can be with God leading the way.
