S’mores

by Ted

Tonight our family decided it was time to truly introduce our girls to the American way of life.  We lit a fire in our fire pit in the backyard.  At the time, I wasn’t sure how much of a disaster this would turn into.  Quinn and Jenna have a tendency to get into everything.  And I mean everything – just as soon as we turn our backs.  So with a fire in the backyard I was half expecting to make a trip to the ER before the night was over.

However, I was pleasantly surprised.  Both Quinn and Jenna seemed to respect the fire.  Much to my relief, nobody decided that the burning log in the middle of the fire pit would make the next great toy.  Both the girls kept their distance, hanging out with the boys and they all had lots of fun sitting on their very own kiddy chairs.

After supper with Grandpa Roger, Grandma Vikki, Auntie Mary, Uncle Eric and Jax we all sat down for a s’more.  Quinn and Jenna weren’t sure what to think at first.  In fact, Jenna actually started to cry a little as the marshmallow started to stick to more and more fingers.  She got to the point where she just wanted to be done.  However Quinn eventually figured it out and quite enjoyed her newest taste of America.

Uhh… Mom, somthing’s wrong with this!! It won’t come off!!

As expected the mess afterwards lived up to everyone expectations.

Jenna thinking, “Daddy, it just bit my arm.”
