Family Bonding

by Michele

We have been home for almost a whole month and we are definitely seeing some good things.  Ryan is finally starting to warm up to his sisters.  I think it helps that the girls are not biting or hitting as much.  I think it has been a few days since someone got bit, yeah.  I made the kids do a little cleaning this morning so I could vacuum.  The amount of grass coming into my house these past few days was getting to be a bit too much.  They picked up everything really fast so I rewarded them with a bit of TV.  The girls don’t really watch TV yet but since Luke and Ryan were really excited, they wanted to try it out.  Don’t worry, Jenna lasted about 2 min and Quinn about 10.  I think Quinn was enjoying cuddling with Luke too much to move.  Ryan actually had his arm around Jenna too but that lasted about 1 min before Jenna started moving and Ryan forgot what he was doing so he started playing with his hair.

I think it has helps Ryan and Luke that we have a small special area for just them to go to so they can play with their toys the way they used to before the girls came home.  We didn’t know how the girls would react to this special area that they are not allowed into but so far it hasn’t been too much of an issue.  It is only a big issue if I or Bella go back there (I assume if Ted could actually climb over the sofa then that would also be a big deal too).  However, this morning, the boys were busy eating when they heard some of their toys being moved in their special area.  Lo and behold, one managed to get in.  We don’t know how Jenna made it in because if she went over the sofa, she would have fallen and would have cried but there is no place she could fit otherwise so who knows.  She has not managed to do it again so I think she just got lucky.

Luke was not happy about this at all.  He was over the sofa -into the special area – quite quickly trying to protect his creation in what he has named “Lego World” and trying to escort Jenna out.

Overall, things are running more and more smoothly around here.  The girls have learned their bedtime ritual and sleep more contently during the night.  They do still occasionally wake in the middle of the night with a full scream.  Most of the time the scream diminishes and dies out in a couple of short minutes and they are back to sleep.  I suspect they are still having night terrors.  But regardless they are sleeping much better and so are me and Ted.

About tochinaandbackagain

I am a stay at home mom to two very active boys and soon we will bring home two Chinese twin girls with cleft lip and palate issues. I spend my day trying to be the best parent and wife I can be with God leading the way.
