Today we met up with my family at Minnehaha Park. It didn’t take long for Quinn and Jenna to warm up to their Aunt Stef and Grandma Yoder. Who could blame them when there were muddy rocks to play with.
We continued exploring along the lower part of the river, well, it was more of a stream because it has been so dry here. All of the young cousins were busy hopping from one side of the stream to the other side of the stream. Elsay ventured across first, and did a good job of reminding us of the risks. I’m pretty sure he had a very wet foot after this crossing. Aunt Stef was correct, one of her’s fell into the water first.
Despite Elsay’s adventure, Elias, Haley, and Luke made it across safely.
In the end, only Ryan was left and was a little too scared to cross.
Eventually dad put down the camera and came to the rescue so everyone stayed together.
We even managed to capture a couple of poses with the cousins together.
After a while the girls were ready to move on. Jenna found the road for us and we were all soon following along.
Her lead did not last long, darn those short little legs. Eventually she ended up close to the end of the pack where she quickly got her cousins to help her walk faster.
On our walk we took a few detours to find some geocache “treasure boxes” which I think made the kids enjoy the long walks better because, lets face it, who doesn’t like to go for a treasure hunt. We made it all the way to the Mississippi River before heading back to the cars. On the way home, all the kids decided that the walk was too much and everyone got piggy back rides. Only Haley walked the whole way. Grandma Doris pushed the jogging stroller that had Jenna and Quinn. Then everyone else had a kid on their back for about 5 mins which of course wore all the adults out. We had a lot of fun, so thanks Yoder clan for meeting up with us at the falls.
