Pig tails

by Michele

The girls hair reached the stage a few weeks ago that it needs to be tied back or it is in their eyes.  I have used headbands, clips and ponytails but by far Jenna’s favorite hairdo is pig tails.  She loves pig tails.  When she sees the headbands come out she gets mad and kind of whines but when she sees this come out, she gets excited.

I get everything ready on the floor and the minute I sit down, this happens….

She lays her head right down on my legs so that I can put them in.

Granted her pig tails are not that big yet and I can not get her hair in the back of her head to reach yet but that doesn’t stop her.  When we get done, she always wants to see herself in the mirror.  She gets so happy.

Quinn could care less what is in her hair.  She knows it has to get done so she does it.

I think she would rather go exploring but we get it done and then she is off.  She doesn’t care what she looks like.  We think she is cute though.

On a side note, I could use some prayer for more patience with the kids.  I think everyone is adjusting well but we still have a lot of little hiccups.  Nights are getting better, we are no longer sleeping in the girls room anymore.  But, I was up 5 times last night and that was a good night.  I was only up for about 2-5 mins. each time but I think it is wearing on me.  I am yelling a lot at the kids and they go to their rooms or the time-out stair a lot.  I don’t really feel like playing with the kids at all so I do my own thing around them.  I feel like if it continues, I will probably scare the kids into silence when they are around me and I don’t really want that so any prayer would really be great.

I am a stay at home mom to two very active boys and soon we will bring home two Chinese twin girls with cleft lip and palate issues. I spend my day trying to be the best parent and wife I can be with God leading the way.

Michelle, I know you don’t know me but my husband and I have been following your blog. We are awaiting out TA to get our daughter from Bobai. You guys are on my prayer list daily. Just know that you are an amazing mom no matter how you may feel about yourself at any given moment. God would have never given you your precious children if he didn’t think you could do it. I feel your frustration about patients. You are loved! Your sister in Christ, Stephanie Martinell, WA journey2lilymei.blogspot (I just started our blog so it looks pitiful. Sorry)

  2. You are doing great! Patience is acquired by “practicing”. Jason and I had only the two of your kids here this summer and for only 17 days, but for this Grandma and Grandpa at about 60 years of age, we found that patience was not so high on our list of skills either…you can have it for a moment maybe, or longer, and then it will seemingly slip away as soon as you become tired.

“Patience is not a measured by calm benevolent feelings, but rather it is an ‘expression’ of appropriate thoughts, ideas, and desires through a Holy Spirit facilitated restraint during stressful moments.”

huh….I just made that up! I impress myself! (joking) I better remember that as well next time I feel like blowing up.

Hey Michelle, this all sounds very familiar just like I experienced when our four were all little (and they weren’t as close together as yours). I never could play with them very well, but I loved to read to them……you are doing a great job and it will get easier. John always says “you can find patients at the hospital” ha, ha, but seriously I know how hard it is to be patient when it seems no one is paying any attention to what we say, so give yourself a break and start over and over again. They love you and can feel that you love them. May God Bless you all.
