Our boys have been big fans of the PBS kid’s cartoon Dinosaur Train. One of the dinosaur lives in a nest, and Ryan has taken a liking to building his own nests on mommy and daddy’s bed. Today he moved his nest to the chair in the corner of the room since Luke was busy playing with a new toy in the middle of the bed where Ryan’s nest would normally go.
It wasn’t long before Luke got tired of his toy and joined Ryan in the newly built nest.
Even though it was still the middle of the morning when this picture was taken it made me think of the evenings over the past 2 months as I have tucked the boys into bed. Every night, we have the boys say a quick little prayer to Jesus thanking him for something and asking Jesus for help for something. The boys each come up with whatever they want to say.
Luke has had a pretty consistent theme for his prayers ever since Quinn and Jenna have come home. A typical night often consists of one of these three prayers:
“Dear Jesus, thank you for our twins and help me and Ryan and Quinn and Jenna to listen to mommy and daddy when they tell us to do something.”
“Dear Jesus, thank you for our twins and help me to take good care of our twins when mommy and daddy can’t.”
“Dear Jesus, thank you for our twins and help them to get Jesus in their hearts.”
Sometimes, our days and nights don’t always go smoothly. None of us sleep well..we bicker…we fight…we whine…we complain…we don’t always get along…we are human. So at the end of the day it is easy to lose focus on how blessed we really are. Our boys and girls are amazing. They may be young but they still have hearts of gold.
