And the paperwork continues

by Michele

We have been home for a bit over 2 months now.  We still have sleep problems.  Last week, Jenna had been up for hours on end during the night.  It seems that if it is not Jenna then Quinn will have a bad night.  However, I think part of the problem has been that Ted was gone for 2 weeks on work.  All the kids have been sleeping better now that Ted has been home for a whole week.  We also started using lavender lotion on them.  I don’t know if the smell or the body massage is working but we have had 3 nights in a row that were pretty good.  Pretty good meaning we were only up 3 times with kids last night but we were back in bed in less then 5 minutes each time.

Because of all of the sleep issues, I have not been on top of all of the paperwork that needs to be done.   Our adoption was finalized in China and when we came home, our girls became US citizens; however, they need a few things like social security numbers and birth certificates.  Last week I finally got our paperwork filed with with our local court system.  This was to make the courts aware of the recent adoption.  After the judge acknowledges the adoptions, he signs the papers and send them off to get Minnesota birth certificates.   We got a call last Friday saying our papers are off to their next location.  We got a copy of this one in the mail with the judge’s signature.

Our last step is to get them a social security number.  We will have to go to the local social security office and show them that all of our paperwork is correct and accurate, that the adoption really did take place and is finalized and that they are really American citizens.  Hopefully, I will get that done this week because next week starts the surgeries.  Good news is that after we get their social security numbers we are all the way done with the paper trail of adoption, well, besides the post-placement forms for China for the next 5 years.

On a side note, do you remember that tree I nailed some boards to so that it created a ladder.  It has become the neighborhood hang out.  The kids love it.

We even let the little ones have a turn
