Surgery Update #1

-by Michele

Yesterday was the girls 2nd Birthday.  I wanted to do a post on it but it will have to come later because the night got away from us.  At one time last night we had Grandma Doris and Grandma Gerri (Bella and Elliott’s Grandma) doing dishes, Ted putting Luke and Ryan to bed, Matt and Michel (Bella and Elliott’s parents) changing Quinn and Jenna’s bedding because they had to go to bed in freshly laundered sheets and pjs, Bella giving Jenna and Quinn baths in a freshly sterilized tub with new toys, soap, wash pad and freshly laundered towels, Elliott vaccuming our living room so that he could set up a big train track for the boys to play with while we are gone (they have not been able to play with the train track because Jenna and Quinn are very destructive) and me running around the house with my head cut off trying to pack.  We got it all done but it was a very short night.  Hence the Birthday post will come later.

The day started early with all of us leaving home around 5:20 this morning.  The girls slept most of the way up to St. Paul which was good.

Both the girls squealed with delight when they saw the waiting room.

But we didn’t stay here for long.  We soon were brought back to the pre-op room where we the girls had their vitals measured and Jenna put on her surgery gown.

I walked Jenna back to the Operating Room and held her while they put her to sleep .  She did an awesome job.  She didn’t even struggled or cry as they put the face mask over her mouth to give her the sleeping gas.  (She might have been too scared to cry because that is exactly what she did on Gotacha Day.  The crying will come later.)

We just got a page 10 minutes ago (9:05) that they have now started the surgery.  They are doing Jenna’s lip and palette first then will do her ear tubes.  Quinn won’t go into the OR until 11:00 or so.

About tochinaandbackagain

I am a stay at home mom to two very active boys and soon we will bring home two Chinese twin girls with cleft lip and palate issues. I spend my day trying to be the best parent and wife I can be with God leading the way.

I prayed for the girls this AM on my walk and will continue to do so through the day. May God’s peace reign in your heart and you trust Him through this.

  2. Doris Yoder (aka Grandma Yoder) says:

PTL, so far so good! Will keep you in constant prayer today. Everything is calm on the homefront in Waseca as well. Ryan is sequestered behind the couch playing in his own private play area after playing for an hour out with the train. Luke, of course, is in school.

  3. Stef says:

Praying for you all this week! Hope all goes well for the birthday girls.

Praying for those sweet little girls and the rest of the family! Hopefully someday soon we’ll finally be able to meet them! I didn’t realize the girls were so close in age to Tyler! Tyler turns two on Thursday!

Praying for you today and for a speedy recovery for the girls!
