The girls were very excited when we said it was time to go home. They ran to get their shoes and coats on. While we were putting them into the car, Ted struggled with Jenna only because she was so excited she could not stop bouncing up and down in her car seat while he buckled her into her seat. By the time we got them home, I think the trip and excitement had taken their toll on the girls. They were very crabby, tired, and I think sore. It took them a few hours to snap out of it, but when they did, they ran around like nothing ever happened to them. I can’t believe how resilient these girls are.
The girls’ faces are still very bruised and swollen. Luke took one look at them and laughed a little. His words…”Mom they look funny”. They do look very different. The doctor said that the face may be swollen for the next 2 months. The scars will be red for up to 1 year but it will get better. I do have to agree a little with Luke. It is so weird to see the girls with a full upper lip. One that is not missing or indented. But I am sure this too will become our new normal.
