The face of recovery

by Michele

Our girls are doing great.  The pain doesn’t seem to bother them too much so we have started to back off of the meds.  Their faces are still pretty swollen but that too has really gone down in the last day and a half.  Their lips are still very big but the doctor did say it would take a long time for those to go down in puffiness.  We are struggling a bit right now because all of our kids want our attention, Luke and Ryan full of energy bouncing off of the wall with Jenna and Quinn trying to get in on the action yet not get their face touched.  It has lead to a few behavioral issues by all of the kids.  I am ready to join in so I am taking a break.

Here is some pictures of how Jenna’s and Quinn’s new lips look.  Of course they will go down in size but I am impressed that their face really looks like the scarring will be at a minimum.  Although it is a bit too early to tell, I feel very optimistic.  There is some glue still on their cuts and a lot of ointment which is making their hair very greasy looking.  Jenna is very bruised throughout the whole face.  Quinn’s face did not really bruise which surprised me because her face was very swollen.  Although I do think Quinn’s nose looks a little pulled (the doctor warned us of this and is should correct itself with time, it is not nearly as bad as I expected).

About tochinaandbackagain

I am a stay at home mom to two very active boys and soon we will bring home two Chinese twin girls with cleft lip and palate issues. I spend my day trying to be the best parent and wife I can be with God leading the way.

The girls look so sweet. Glad to hear they don’t seem to be bothered by pain this time around. Continued prayers for ALL of you as the recovery continues.
