Last week was pretty busy. It was MEA which means the kids didn’t have school but that also means that there is MYC (Minnesota Youth Convention). So while Ted took some vacation days to stay home with our 4 kids, I went off to a conference with our youth group. Ted seemed to come through with flying colors. Luke told me he had so much fun with Ted that he didn’t miss me….hmm. Luke’s high-light was when Ted decided he didn’t want to cook supper and took the kids out to eat where there was an indoor play area. Busted Ted. Ryan said he didn’t miss me but I also had to lay down with him the first few hours at bed time before he calmed down and understood I wasn’t leaving him again.
Anyways, MYC was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the messages this year. The theme was Limitless.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:20.
There were 3 different sessions and some of the points that I liked are listed below:
1.) God can use us just the way He has made us. The ‘disabilities’ we think we have like being an introvert can fit perfectly in His plan. (Sean Smith used the example of Ehud who was left-handed.)
2.) The mountain you fear, holds the treasure you seek. Basically don’t let fear hold us back from what God has planned for us. We need to step up and start doing whatever God has placed on our hearts. (Here, they used the story of the Israelites in the desert who were too scared to listen to God, too scared to take the land they were given. Because of it, they stepped back and had to live their whole life in the desert.)
3.) We tend to put God/religion/faith in a box so that we can stay comfortable. God doesn’t want this, He wants us to step away from the idea of religion and follow His plan. Americans in general like to put God in a building and visit every Sunday morning but that is not what God wants. He wants us to live out our faith every minute of every day.
