Well, I don’t think our Thanksgiving was like most peoples, there was no large gathering of people, no turkey, no sitting around because you ate too much. But that is ok, it was a great day. We started out celebrating yesterday because the kids didn’t have school. We met up with my dad and took the kids to the MN zoo.
Jenna quickly found out that she had her Grandpa wrapped around her little fingers. Whenever she wanted to get picked up to see the animals better she would trot on over to Grandpa, grab his hand and pull him where she wanted to go. She was in high heavens. I don’t think Grandpa minded.
Today after we ate my mom’s version of Thanksgiving turkey dinner (imagine the table filled with crab legs, shrimp, cheddar biscuits, fresh fruit, and broccoli) we headed outside to burn off all the food. My kids actually ate too many shrimp they all asked if they could have their dessert later for 3 o’clock snack. That has never happened but there was shrimp so it makes sense. Anyways, back to outside…last week we had a very cold week and it came on rather quickly. Because of this the creek at my mom’s house froze very smooth and crystal clear. The kids had fun racing back and forth even with multiple falls.
It was so clear that we could see all of the little minnows swimming under the ice. We sat and watched the fish for a while.
After we got cold, we went back home where Ted came up with a brilliant game for the kids. Indoor Volleyball.
The kids had a blast. The boys caught on really quickly to the rules of the game. The girls however didn’t totally get the hang of the game. A lot of times they tried to catch the ball only to hit them in the head but you can’t win them all and it is just a big balloon ball so no harm done. They still had fun.
