A few weeks ago we took Lucia up north to one of Ted’s cousins wedding. It was the first time she had been to an American wedding. She said it was quite different from what she was used to for weddings. Afterwards we took her up to the North shore and went hiking. My kids were still dressed in there wedding cloths so I was hoping for some good pictures. True to my kids personalities: Jenna and Quinn are watching Ted to see if they are doing things correctly. Luke is thinking in his head, “when can we be done.” And Ryan, well, Ryan will always be Ryan. They really just wanted to explore and not sit for pictures so I moved on to someone who might be more patient. Ah…Finally someone who just sits and smiles at me. Thanks Lucia. (On a quick side note, as I am posting these pictures, Jenna came up to see what I was doing. She screams, “Lucy!” Then in a really sad voice, “I miss Lucy.” Lucia has been gone for 5 days now and I think all of my kids are going through Lucy withdrawal.)
At the waterfall, Luke took every chance he could get to get off of the path. Ryan tried really hard to follow his big brother. It made an interesting hike but worth it. Because half way around the loop we saw the view. It was wonderful weather, not too hot and just enough rain to scare away all of the tourists to get good pictures with out people in them. Usually there are people all over the rocks next to the water. When we finally made it back to our hotel room, we went outside to play a round of mini-golf. It came free with the hotel. The kids had a blast.
The next day we headed back to Duluth where we did some more hiking. Again whenever Luke thought he could get off of the path, he did but this time he had everyone following him including Grandpa Jason. There was a lot of helping, hand holding, jumping, and tossing kids over big boulders going on. Only Doris was smart enough to stay on the path above and watch from below.
