Our last camping trip of the year.

Last month we had planned one last camping trip but the weekend we picked ended up getting down to 38 degrees F.  We thought that would be a bit too cold for our kids so we stayed home.  Oddly enough two weekends later we had nothing going on and it was supposed to be wonderful fall weather so we packed up our camper and headed out one last time before the snow flys.  IMG_1044We found a state park not so far away that had a historical village you could tour and a cave to explore.  The historical village had reenactments every weekend.  All the actors went along with their day as if it were in the late 1800’s early 1900’s.  We were busy sawing wood, carving a handle for a hammer, shelling corn, making food, etc.  For being shy, Luke seemed to volunteer for a lot of things.  Sadly to say I did hear a few comments like: “we do this at Grandma Janett’s house” or “Grandma Janett has one of those”.  Yeah….some of those comments came from me too, my mom is a little old school.  IMG_0969The state park was also known for its trails for horses.  There were tons of horses every where.  I grew up riding horses and I really miss it.  While we were just sitting there, a couple came really close to us with their horses and asked if my kids wanted to pet their horses.  Big mouth me decided to go even farther and asked if my kids could have a free ride.  Yep, that is me.  But guess what….my kids got to ride a horse for the first time.  As Luke was talking to the lady, we found out that we live about 4 miles apart from each other.  Small world.  IMG_0995 After a horse ride we went on a walk on some of the trails.  While on one of our walks we found a milliped which worked great for my M on the 365 Photo challenge.  IMG_1018We also found an empty stage.  We sat down when suddenly Ryan decided to put on a show for us.  He is such a little entertainer if he could only get over his shyness.  IMG_1036It was a great trip even if we got a mouse in our camper in the middle of the night (and yes we chased it out without waking up the kids although it did make me jump for the rest of the night).  Our last camping trip of the year….. IMG_1149
